Jamie Foxx Is The New Spawn

Todd McFarlane has made the official announcement that Jamie Foxx is now the Protagonist for the new Spawn movie. Foxx will playing the role of Al Simmons AKA Spawn. Al Simmons is a former Marine-turned-Black-Ops-turned-Hellspawn who wants to exact revenge on those who betrayed him.

Spawn has been a long running comic series since 1992 becoming a cult favorite and a popular non-Marvel/DC comic book character. In 1997 a live action movie was made where the role was held by Michael Jai White (Black Dynamite, Undisputed, Blood and Bone). For it’s time the CGI was pretty impressive and it almost holds up today.

Though Michael Jai White is still acting, more popular than ever, and can still kick ass in martial arts, the decision to not go with him and come up with a sequel is beyond me. I’m not undermining the choice of Jamie Foxx, the man is a great actor with amazing range, from comedy to drama to action, and is great choice. But this is a reboot and usually reboots don’t have the same actor play the same protagonist, so I understand that. I’m happy to hear that the wheels are turning on this movie and I wish Todd and Foxx a ton of good luck. Here’s a nice photoshopped picture of Foxx as Spawn with credit to BossLogic.

Thor vs The Hulk

The newest teaser trailer has just dropped for the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok movie. And this time it won’t just be a filler Marvel movie as we wait for the next Captain America, Iron Man, Avengers or Guardians movie. This is different.

The teaser gives us a small taste of what the story entails. It begins with showing us that Hela (The Goddess of Death and Part-Time Grim Reaper) destroying Mjolnir leaving nothing but a handle for Thor. He may be able to create another one but we will have to find out how since Asgard is now destroyed as well. Brought to the Planet Sakaar he’s brought into a “gladiator-style” battle by fellow Asgardian, Valkyrie. The fight are organized by Grandmaster, affiliated with The Collector from Guardians.

If he wins, he can get back to Asgard (well…what’s left it anyways) by defeating his opponent(s). The main opponent? Fellow Avenger and Gamma-powered monster, THE INCREDIBLE HULK!

Though Thor is excited to see him because he’s a “friend from work”, the feeling isn’t mutual as Hulk charges at him. Full of anger and maybe not recognizing another Avenger, this may be a repressed version of the Hulk where Bruce Banner is unable to come back. We remember from Avengers: Age of Ultron he was only able to be calmed down by Black Widow, and for this movie I doubt she’ll be making an appearance.

But that doesn’t mean that we won’t see any other heroes or new characters making an appearance. We have Karl Urban showing up as Skurge, a villain who usually follows another named Enchantress to win her love. But since she seems to be absent, we don’t know what his intentions are and whether or not he is a villain, either way he looks pretty badass shooting two machine guns together.

If you have seen Doctor Strange (and stayed for end credits scene like the awesome moviegoer that I know you are), Thor makes a brief appearance asking for help from Strange to find his father Odin. From that scene, Thor still has his long flowing locks which means Strange may only show up early on in the movie. Loki should also be making an appearance because Thor mentions that both him and Loki are looking for their father.

There are things to address, however. Since the Mjolnir is broken and will need to be remade, in the comics there was another hammer made called the Stormbreaker. This hammer did not belong to Thor but to another who is worthy of handling Mjolnir, Beta Ray Bill. I hope that he makes an appearance in this movie but it seems that it would be a stretch.

Also what happened to Odin when Loki was posing as him at the end of Thor: The Dark World?

In the comics when Hulk was stranded on Planet Sakaar, he teamed up with a band of gladiators, one of them being Korg, a Kronan warrior. Will he make an appearance in the movie? Or was he really destroyed in Thor: TDW? I hope it was a random Kronan. Other than Korg, will any of the other members of Hulk’s crew show such a Miek?

The upcoming trailer for this movie teaser should clear up some speculations and questions on everyone’s mind. Whether it answers them all or not, I believe this movie is gonna be pretty badass and that this may be the best Thor movie ever.

Welcome Back Everyone’s Favorite Anti-Hero

The Merc with the mouth is back and I couldn’t be more excited. If the teaser gives us small taste of what’s to come, we’re definitely in for a treat.

If we can analyze anything from the trailer, it is practically giving away the plot. As with the previous movie, the first trailer depicts Deadpool looking for someone(aka Ajax(aka Francis)). With this trailer we see Deadpool on the road to transform from anti-hero to full on hero. But after seeing what I saw, he’ll need to work on preparation.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS AND PLOT REVEAL AHEAD!!!

So if you’ve watched the trailer, during a certain scene, you had enough time to maybe enjoy the scenery. Anyone who has kept up since the end of the first Deadpool movie, will know that Cable was teased. Those who are bigger fans of the X-men series, will know that his name is Nathan Summers. On the phonebooth we see “Nathan Summers Coming Soon!”, this would confirm that Cable will be in the movie. Who is going to play Cable? That’s yet to be decided, my vote is for Ray Stevenson, even though he has already played the Punisher in Punisher: War Zone (I still think Thomas Jane was a better punisher).

Another bigger (and less likely) Easter egg, is Hope. Hope is written in a few places in the background of the trailer. It is a possibility that the plot may involve Hope Summers, the adoptive daughter of Cable. Hope is the first mutant born after the events of X-Men’s House of M and Decimation storylines, where an insane Scarlet Witch has taken away the powers of 90% of the mutants. The plot can involve saving her but that may be a stretch for a Deadpool movie.

Another Easter egg in the trailer was that it took place in a world where Firefly still has posters on the street. This is either because Nathan Summers shares the same name as Nathan Dillion or maybe Joss Whedon is directing (doubtful). But if there is anything I want from the Firefly Easter egg, is that I want Alan Tudyk to be in the movie. Bad guy, good guy, whatever…he can do it all. My favorite role of his is Dutch from Tansformers: Dark of the Moon, which would make sense if he is gonna have a shootout with Deadpool.

Last and, in my opinion, most likely (you may wanna hold on to your seats people)….

A Deadpool and How I Met Your Mother crossover!!!
Why?

What da ya mean ‘why?’?

The background! Do you not recognize it? It’s the one used for HIMYM.

I mean I could be wrong but I would be surprised at a crossover. Or maybe an appearance from NPH.
Yeah there are some Logan posters but that’s cause it was shown before Logan.
