The newest teaser trailer has just dropped for the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok movie. And this time it won’t just be a filler Marvel movie as we wait for the next Captain America, Iron Man, Avengers or Guardians movie. This is different.
The teaser gives us a small taste of what the story entails. It begins with showing us that Hela (The Goddess of Death and Part-Time Grim Reaper) destroying Mjolnir leaving nothing but a handle for Thor. He may be able to create another one but we will have to find out how since Asgard is now destroyed as well. Brought to the Planet Sakaar he’s brought into a “gladiator-style” battle by fellow Asgardian, Valkyrie. The fight are organized by Grandmaster, affiliated with The Collector from Guardians.
If he wins, he can get back to Asgard (well…what’s left it anyways) by defeating his opponent(s). The main opponent? Fellow Avenger and Gamma-powered monster, THE INCREDIBLE HULK!
Though Thor is excited to see him because he’s a “friend from work”, the feeling isn’t mutual as Hulk charges at him. Full of anger and maybe not recognizing another Avenger, this may be a repressed version of the Hulk where Bruce Banner is unable to come back. We remember from Avengers: Age of Ultron he was only able to be calmed down by Black Widow, and for this movie I doubt she’ll be making an appearance.
But that doesn’t mean that we won’t see any other heroes or new characters making an appearance. We have Karl Urban showing up as Skurge, a villain who usually follows another named Enchantress to win her love. But since she seems to be absent, we don’t know what his intentions are and whether or not he is a villain, either way he looks pretty badass shooting two machine guns together.
If you have seen Doctor Strange (and stayed for end credits scene like the awesome moviegoer that I know you are), Thor makes a brief appearance asking for help from Strange to find his father Odin. From that scene, Thor still has his long flowing locks which means Strange may only show up early on in the movie. Loki should also be making an appearance because Thor mentions that both him and Loki are looking for their father.
There are things to address, however. Since the Mjolnir is broken and will need to be remade, in the comics there was another hammer made called the Stormbreaker. This hammer did not belong to Thor but to another who is worthy of handling Mjolnir, Beta Ray Bill. I hope that he makes an appearance in this movie but it seems that it would be a stretch.
Also what happened to Odin when Loki was posing as him at the end of Thor: The Dark World?
In the comics when Hulk was stranded on Planet Sakaar, he teamed up with a band of gladiators, one of them being Korg, a Kronan warrior. Will he make an appearance in the movie? Or was he really destroyed in Thor: TDW? I hope it was a random Kronan. Other than Korg, will any of the other members of Hulk’s crew show such a Miek?
The upcoming trailer for this movie teaser should clear up some speculations and questions on everyone’s mind. Whether it answers them all or not, I believe this movie is gonna be pretty badass and that this may be the best Thor movie ever.
